Group Fitness Philosophy

One of our top priorities in group fitness is to inspire and encourage our members to be the best versions of themselves!  Our instructors are second to none—truly, the best in the business.  We have dedicated ourselves to current education and using the latest and most cutting edge fitness formats.  As a team, we have committed to create a community of friendship, fitness, and fun where we support each other in developing and maintaining healthy minds, bodies and spirits.  It is so vital for us to connect with people to the point that they want to keep coming back!  Ditch working out alone and FEEL a part of our SKILLS family!  You will feel the difference.

BODYPUMP™ is a full-body barbell workout that will burn calories, shape and tone your entire body, increase core strength and improve bone health. This program is based on THE REP EFFECT, a proven formula that exhausts muscles using light to moderate weights, while performing high repetitions-this is the secret to developing lean, athletic muscle. Instructors will coach you while pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

Strength is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength and build lean muscle. This workout uses barbell, weight plate and body weight exercises to blast all major muscle groups.

Cardio is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that improves cardiovascular fitness, increase speed and maximize calorie burn.

Plyo is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) plyometric-based workout, designed to make you perform like an athlete. This workout uses a bench and combines explosive jumping exercises with agility training to increase explosiveness and to build a lean and athletic body.

CXWORX-Exercising muscles around the core, CXWORX™ provides the vital ingredient for a stronger body. A stronger core makes you better at all things you do, from everyday life to your favorite sports - it’s the glue that holds everything together. All the moves in CXWORX have options, so it’s challenging but achievable for your own level of fitness. During the 30-minute workout trained instructors guide you through correct technique as you work with resistance tubes and weight plates, as well as body weight exercises like crunches, and hovers. It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, as well as improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.

GROUP SPIN - This class is a high intensity cycling workout that will leave you feeling stronger, faster, and exhausted! Our instructors are experienced cyclists, both indoor and outdoor, and understand how to push the veteran cyclists or someone who just wants a great workout. This hour long class will take you to the hills of Bountiful or put you through interval sprints to strength you lower body and get your heart rate pumpin’! You will leave class feeling exhilarated and worked while increasing your endurance and speed.

HIGH Fitness is an emerging leader in group fitness, inspiring people from all walks of life to a lifestyle of better health and overall wellness. HIGH transforms old school aerobics into a highly addictive new fitness experience that combines simple, modern fitness techniques (i.e. HIIT, plyometrics, etc.) with music you know and love. This results in high energy, intense and crazy fun workout that leaves participants feeling HIGH and wanting more. Our formula alternates between cardio peaks and toning tracks that will take your heart rate to the sky and strength to the next level. Our instructors are passionate about this program and you will feel of their energy and love!

Yoga is designed to improve the health, performance, and mental acuity of athletes or individuals interested in improving their level of fitness. Based on the ancient fitness science, yoga blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. Yoga is all about harmonizing the body with the mind and breath through the means of various breathing exercises, poses (asanas) and relaxation. Our instructors have years and years of experience and cater each class to the members needs. This class will help your body become stronger in your everyday exercises and you will leave class feeling rejuvenated and motivated to come back for more!

BODYATTACK™ is a high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to total addicts. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. A LES MILLS™ instructor will pump out energizing tunes and lead you through the workout – challenging your limits in a good way and leaving you with a sense of achievement. BodyAttack will improve your functional fitness-the fitness you need for every day life!

BODYSTEP-Basic stepping, just like walking up and down stairs, is at the heart of BODYSTEP™ – a full-body cardio workout to really tone your butt and thighs. Thanks to the cardio blocks that push fat burning systems into high gear, BODYSTEP will get your heart rate up and increase cardio fitness. Our bubbly and approachable instructors coach you through the workout. We play invigorating, hit music and inject a whole lot of fun and personality along the way. You will burn calories, tone and shape your butt and legs while improving coordination and agility!

This class is designed for older active adults who want an exercise program that offers cardio, strength and balance. Fitness and fun come together with aerobic choreography and with upper-body strengthening exercises using hand-held weights. Several options are given for those who are recovering from injury or surgeries and also options for those who are ready for a good workout! Silver Sneakers will increase muscle strength and range of movement, and improve activities for daily living. You’ll have a chair for seated exercises and standing support. Your certified instructor can modify the exercises for your fitness level.

This class is taught by a NASM certified personal trainer with a background in rehabilitation and movement. Mat Pilates employs controlled breathing during body weight resisted movement to build core strength. Along with the focus of ab work, the class includes a series of exercises to work the inner and outer thighs, strengthen the back, hamstrings and glutes. Everyone needs mat pilates in their exercise regimen to improve postural alignment, flexibility, breathing, core stability and controlled movement.

BODYJAM-If you want to dance, there’s nothing like it! House, Hip-hop, drum ’n’ bass, trap, all styles of electronic dance music, it’s the soul of BODYJAM. This is legit. While we’re pretty sure you’ll be too busy dancing your butt off, its good to know that you’ll be getting a killer workout and burning calories while you’re at it. Can’t hurt, right? You’ll be taught by the best dancers in the area and you’ll have so much fun you’ll forget you are working out!

Well developed warm ups, progressions of core, mobility, and movement. Interlaced with stillness and stability that lead to a balance between strength and flexibility. Making use of newly formed ranges of motion to adapt and retain. Giving a nice insurance policy to enable movement for years. These movements are complex and take time to develop. When safely and patiently tackled it will strengthen and protects joints. Producing an acute awareness of the body. If you care about understanding your self more, experiencing, evolving, and discovering. This class will be a stepping stone. Adaptable to all levels of experience and skill. Oh and did I mention handstands :)
